Since its founding in the thirteenth century, the Communal Palace of Norcia has undergone numerous destructions and reconstructions. Located in a highly seismic area at the base of the Sibillini Mountains, the building, like the entire city, was severely damaged by the earthquakes of 2016.

Currently, Sepe Constructions is engaged in an innovative and advanced renovation project—being carried out for the first time in Italy—that has attracted the attention of international professionals and the national press. The project aims to make the medieval palace immune to seismic activity.

The ancient Roman foundations were excavated and cut at the base to allow the installation of seismic isolators. In the event of an earthquake, the oscillations will be transmitted from the base to the upper parts of the building in an attenuated manner. The project, with a budget of 5.8 million euros, is set to be completed in 2025.
